"Love of *his own* cars" == cars are not worth anything except to their owner, have no intrinsic non-cash value, and are the flaunted emblem of wealth. Also "his own" == selfish. "...one thing that outpaces..." implies a megalomania involving cars, because anyone we disagree with is clearly psychotic. "Disgust", "dislike", strong efforts to encode a disconnected "Evil rich" stereotype, only compounded by "normal people". Fuckface, "normal people" do not drive Bims and back them into people, then act completely above it all. This being completely over the top already, we use a "ha ha I giggle because I'm a rich fuck" photo. About the only thing missing is a plainly stated "Evil rich jew loves possessions, hates humanity and you in particular".

I never read/comment on Gawker because of this. I can understand his rage, because guess what? His car is worth money. The thing that we rarely think about is how expensive cars really are. I don't know, if someone backed into my car, I'd be pretty fucking pissed. I mean, newer cars tend to be 20-30k. That's a serious amount of money.

But here, we see someone who actually fucking cares, being fucked by someone who doesn't understand (gawker writer). I mean, does this guy even into cars?

Look man, I get your rage on this. Jordan's post was worthless and an affront to car lovers everywhere. That said, we have very simple community rules here that supersede things like that. It'd be fine by me if you called-out Jordan for his tripe in the comments of the OP ... even if his article was spot on (which, again, it was not). What you CANNOT do is come here to Oppo to rally a lynch-mob/posse/whatever. Do NOT do this again or we will break out the banhammer, ok? All Oppomods were about a millimeter away from nuking you for this one but we thought it better to give you another chance and use this post as (yet another) example of what is unacceptable.

Reel that back in, please. We cohabitate with many other communities in the Kinja / Gawker world. Jordan is a hop, skip and a post away from here. And has way more pull and authority than you or I.

This has no place here. And if you really feel that way, say it to their face over on their turf and let me know how that plays out for you. I'm really on the fence between leaving this with a warning and a don't do this again, or suspending your privileges here. However I think that perhaps a warning may best serve everyone.

Recently there has been a lot of hate and animosity toward the other communities and mainpages, and your sentiment strikes me as one which is several steps beyond the line. We need to represent ourselves as the best of car culture. Not just like everyone else. That was what historically made Oppo (and Jalopnik) awesome. Let's try to keep that alive.

Thanks. I prefer, y'know, not being a dick as they say - but it was remarkably easy to be convinced that Jordan himself was being one. I would contend that the evidence is overwhelming, particularly given that Jalopnik already had a post up, that he was posting something directly inflammatory toward members of other communities in full knowledge he was doing so. I can't find it in me to excuse his post one iota.

That being said - I'm not comfortable with editors/writers going that far over the line, but I recognize that to bring it back to Oppo isn't in any way kosher. I really should have let it burn out on its own rather than engaging in any sort of counter-trolling or flaming. I made the situation that much worse, and for that I'm sorry. Back to standard practice of not commenting on or crosslinking any other Gawkersphere articles, even if linked here. It's just not worth it.
